eBay

Express eBay

Did you see this one? Great move by eBay. Should replace current eBay with this new one. Simple and easy. I always found the old eBay very confusing.

And another must read by Om Malik: http://gigaom.com/2006/04/27/five-things-ebay-can-do/
Great article (and podcast too!).. I agree with Om Malik. But Quicken acquisition may be impossible, just because Intuit is a $10B company; so a quite big fish!

FaceBook

April 27, 2006

The social networking giant FaceBook is expanding its services and now they go into business networking scene. No doubt this will be a good move by Facebook. According to techcrunch, they only support big companies with email addresses ending with @microsoft.com etc.

College lifetime is limited; when these guys finish their school, they go to the big companies like Microsoft, Google or whatever. So this is a very very good idea. In fact, the idea of social networking with @something was a very good idea. I congratulate the guy who build all these things; he’s only 22,I saw a video shooting him at Stanford University in a seminar. He dropped out Harvard, just like Bill Gates.

This may be an oppurtinity for Facebook to become a $2B, and maybe even more, giant.

WordPress got a Series A funding but they’re still not good at handling this much load. (came to my mind when I tried to publish the previous post!!) WordPress will be a very good, profitable buyout for anyone; c’mon someone should reward them! Maybe Red Hat? (you know their recent acquisition of open source middleware maker JBoss)

However, as far as I know Red Hat guys are using Typepad for their blogs. Not a good move by a company that claims to be open source leader. Shame for them!

Where are you Apple?

April 25, 2006

It’s bad to see that Apple is not a potential buyer in the web 2.0 market. They could make some buyouts to improve their online presence; OK .mac is a good service but it can be improved much more. For instance, they can buy 30Boxes; besides Yahoo, 30Boxes can be a good buyout for Apple too. They already have a skin for Mac; and look very elegant.

Of course there should be much more candidate buyouts for them out there. C’mon Apple, move…

Google Maps Extended

April 25, 2006

Good news: Google Maps covers most parts of Europe. But mostly the Western parts.. As for Romania, unfortunately we still don’t have any road information.

After seeing Bird Eye View of Live Local, I became a Microsoft Map fanatic. But this is a good step from Google.
